Minty + Feature with Eczema Warrior, Cynthea Corfah

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF! BACKGROUND, CAREER, BUSINESS?

Personally, I am an only child, army brat and Capricorn woman. I'm an extrovert who loves dancing and socializing while also enjoying alone time and spending time tending to my home. Professionally, I am a New Orleans-based journalist, social media specialist, influencer and model. I am also the founder of Brunch for the Soul, a women's and wellness community that connects, empowers and feeds women's souls. The community has a podcast, book club, quarterly event and membership program.

WHEN DID YOU START NOTICING YOU HAD SENSITIVE SKIN/ECZEMA?

I have had eczema since I was a baby. In my mid-20s, I went through Topical Steroid Withdrawl and developed severe full-body eczema. After easing back into topical steroid use, improving my mental health patterns and pursuing more joy in my life, my skin has improved dramatically.

WHAT HAS HELPED YOU CALM A FLARE-UP? ANY PARTICULAR PRACTICE, MEDICATION, OINTMENT, CREAM?

Epsom salt and tea tree baths are my daily regimen. De-stressing and breath work helps to stop scratching. Minty+ReliePH scalp and body serum help when I've had scalp flare-ups. Lately, minimal topical steroid ointments like Triamcinilone have been keeping my eczema at bay.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TRIGGERS ARE?

My triggers include dairy, alcohol, sugar and caffeine.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE ANOTHER ECZEMA WARRIOR?

Listen to your body and be patient with your healing journey. No two person's healing journeys are the same. What works for someone else may not work for you. Take notes of your triggers, be still and tune into what your body enjoys and doesn't. You already have all the answers you need within you.
